Nailsea Festival of Music

There are many Music Festivals, or Eisteddfods, taking place in the area, but none in Nailsea or surrounds. In 2005 a group of four Nailsea residents decided to start such an event, to see if there was sufficient support for this to be run on an annual basis.

The first Festival was held on 16 November 2006 in Nailsea, mainly at the Methodist Church, but with some classes also held in Christ Church. Since then, we have moved to Nailsea School, and there has been a steady increase in entries. We now offer classes in singing, piano, speech and drama creative writing and music composition.

We are delighted and proud that our Festival has gained a reputation for excellent performances, and high standards.  Our tenth Festival was celebrated by a hugely successful Gala Anniversary Concert in The Scotch Horn Theatre on 27 February 2016, when we sampled some of the stars who have appeared during the life of the Festival.

Our Eleventh Festival on 19 November 2016 in Nailsea School was another successful day, with eight awards of 89 marks denoting excellent performances, and three of 90 plus one of an astounding 91, all of which signified exceptional performances.  Please see our ‘Results’  page for more details.

The next Festival will be held on 25 November 2017, and details of the adjudicators and classes on offer will appear sometime in June next year.
